A two-time ski-cross Olympian, Katya Crema began her career as an Alpine ski racer. She had a successful junior career and won the Australian National Championships in slalom and giant slalom four times before taking on a new challenge with ski-cross.

The Mt Buller Race Club member switched to the new discipline at 19, during the 2007/08 season, and soon after lined up for her first World Cup event in Les Contamines (France), where she finished 18th.

After injuring her ACL while training in Meiringen (Switzerland) in March 2009, Crema started the 2009/10 season making five consecutive World Cup finals, taking a 10th place in Lake Placid (USA) and achieving selection to the Australian Olympic team for the Winter Games in Vancouver. In Canada she finished third in her quarter-final heat and 15th overall on debut.

Crema performed even better in her second Olympic experience in Sochi four years later. She made it to the semi-final with a brilliant quarter-final performance and narrowly missed out on the big final, placing third in the small final and 7th overall.

Crema competed on the ski-cross World cup circuit for seven seasons between 2008-2014, making 53 starts and scoring six top-10 finishes. From three World Championships performances, her best result was an 8th place in 2013 in Voss-Myrkdalen, Norway.

Crema juggled sport and academics throughout her skiing career, studying a Bachelor of Environments and majoring in Architecture at the University of Melbourne. Since retiring from international competition in 2014 to pursue her professional career, Crema has worked across architecture, property development and sales.
