2023 HOTHAM SKI CROSS FUTURES

WHAT IS SNOW AUSTRALIA FUTURES?

Snow Australia FUTURES is an athlete development and talent identification program. FUTURES has a vision to enhance the opportunities and resources for athletes in the Snow Australia Athlete Pathway. Futures programs aim to:

Introduce developing athletes to elite sporting opportunities and elite sports people.

Increase knowledge of the athlete pathway, selection criteria and the various opportunities, resources, and programs available to Australian snow sports athletes.

Establish a consistent and unified approach to athlete development.

Engage National Team athletes and programs in pathway development initiatives. Provide athletes with superior technical coaching and performance opportunities.

Encourage involvement in Snow Australia domestic ski/snowboard events.

Bridge the gap between Interschools competition participation and involvement in seasonal Snow Australia Pathway Programs.

SNOW AUSTRALIA HOTHAM SKI CROSS FUTURES

Snow Australia FUTURES Ski Cross Sessions will give participants the opportunity to experience a day in the life of our national team athletes.

Participants will be coached by national team athletes and coaches, increase their ski cross experience, and learn the terminology and how to move like an athlete.

Time will be spent on the ski cross track learning about proper course inspections, the race formats and technical and tactical focus while racing head-to-head.

The program is designed to lead into the ANC Ski Cross Series, Australia’s premier Ski Cross events.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Any FIS aged competitor looking to enhance their Ski Cross skills and on snow development.

AGE LIMITS

16 – 19 (DOB 2004 – 2007). Decisions regarding registration outside of these age brackets will be made on a case-by-case basis. Contact Johnny for any inquires – jlipzker@snow.org.au

ON SNOW ACTIVITIES

Participants will be guided through the technical and tactical elements of Ski Cross including starts, jumps, rollers, turns, aerodynamics, and gliding.

Participants will have the opportunity to put their skills to the test during the camp and the ANC events that follow.

WHEN AND WHERE?

Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th August @ Hotham

All participants will meet outside of the MHRS Club House on Monday Morning. A full schedule will be provided to registrants via email closer to the event date.

TRANSPORT

Transport to and from the training facilities at Hotham will not be provided. You will need to organise your own transport.
