Victorian Interschools Multiclass Event August 23
The Multiclass Event is open to students with an intellectual or physical disability, as well as to adult participants via the Special Olympics pathway.
Participants can compete in an Alpine GS or Snowboard GS event during the Victorian Interschools Championships.
Multiclass Participant Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, participants must meet one or more of the following criteria:

Be registered with Sport Inclusion Australia and hold a valid eligibility number.

Hold a current eligible or provisional School Sport Victoria or Para-alpine classification pertaining to a physical impairment (eg motor, vision, hearing)

Have a formal diagnosis of Autism and be able to provide supporting documentation.

Be a current year member of Special Olympics Australia.

Be a current year member of Disabled Wintersport Australia.
During the registration process, you will just need to select which criteria the participant qualifies for.
Multiclass Participant Capability Criteria
To enter the Multiclass Event, participants must also have enough experience and ability to meet all of the following criteria:

Independently stand on skis or a snowboard;

Ski or ride unassisted, confidently, and safely on blue runs (e.g., Front Valley at Perisher)

Shift from snowplough to parallel and hockey stop if they are skiers;

Stop confidently on a blue run at speed; and
-
Ride a chairlift independently
Event Details
Event Course and Time: TBC
Cost: TBC event fee (2 timed runs in each event).
Entries: Entries will close August 7
Helmets: Helmet use is mandatory for all participants, guides, coaches and parents and carers whilst on the course for inspection and during the event.
Lift Tickets: Participants must have a valid Lift ticket for the day of the event. No discount tickets are available.
Divisioning: Multiclass includes athletes with physical impairments, intellectual impairment, and autism. A Multiclass athlete’s disability is recognised via classifications defined by School Sport Australia, Paralympics Australia, and Sport Inclusion Australia.
Multiclass event divisions replicate existing mainstream events, in that they are based on school year and gender, with both individual and school team races across all divisions. Additionally, Multiclass divisioning is further broken down into two subdivisions:
- Physical Impairment which includes athletes with motor, visual or hearing impairment
- Intellectual Impairment and Autism which includes athletes with a Full-Scale IQ score of 75 and lower, and limitations in adaptive behaviour; or those with a formal diagnosis of Autism, ASD, or Asperger’s syndrome.
Entry Requirements:
- All Participants must have an active Snow Australia Snowracer Membership in order to register
- All Participants must complete an Online Participant Waiver Form
