Event information

Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) continues its commitment to promote educational and development opportunities for Alpine athletes through the provision of its redesigned Physical Literacy Clinics.
As part of the Alpine Review into Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and a revised FTEM National Athlete Pathway Framework, SSA identified the need to shift the focus from physical testing to physical literacy. These clinics are no longer compulsory but attendance is highly recommended.
The Alpine Physical Literacy Clinics will align with the SSA’s LTAD and the revised FTEM Framework, and encompass the integration of physical, psychological and cognitive capabilities required to deliver sport skill development and training to improve athleticism, and produce optimal athletic potential. Fundamentally, this means learning proper techniques for agility, balance, coordination, flexibility, power, reaction time, speed, strength, and endurance.
This shift towards best practice has simplified the previous Alpine Physical Preparation and Testing Clinics to a one 2-day camp to be held in each state, and one educational forum to be held during the SSA Children’s Carnival and FIS Nationals in Jindabyne.
