Snow Academy is the umbrella for all of Snow Australia's education and training pathway and programs. Coaching Fundamentals is the first level of coaching accreditation to be rolled out under the Snow Academy.
Snowboard Coach On-Snow Workshops
- Falls Creek
1 day Snowboard Racing plus 1/2 day Park & Pipe
Dates: TBC August-September 2023
Once sufficient numbers of coaches have registered, the workshop dates will be set by the resort workshop presenters and confirmed directly with registered participants. This provides the resort more flexibility to adapt to weather conditions and host workshops at shorter notice.
When: TBC with registered participants, can be 1 full day and 1 half day, or three half days.

Course Fee:
- Free for Falls Creek Resort employees
(normally $180 for externally run courses)
Pre-requisites:
- All participants must have current Snow Australia membership
(all categories except Snowracer, e.g. Coach Membership, National Racer, International Racer). - All candidates must have completed the relevant Coach Fundamentals Online Modules
(Introduction to Coaching plus Discipline Fundamentals) - All participants should have APSI Cross Country Level 2 certification unless approved by the relevant Snow Australia Discipline Committee or Coaching Coordinator.
Candidates are encouraged to complete the Sport Australia Community Coaching Essential Skills course on the Snow Academy before attending the workshop.
Course Content/Schedule
The Snowboard Racing 1-day course includes the following components:
- Video review and analysis (G/S and SBX)
- GS on-snow practical
- SBX on-snow practical
- Course setting, inspection, lines and skills
- Riding assessments - edging skills and timing skills
- National skills assessment
The Snowboard Park & Pipe 1/2-day course includes the following components:
- Video review and analysis
- Park & Pipe on-snow practical
- Coaching Slopestyle
- Coaching Half-pipe
- Inspection, safety, ATML, rail & jump features
The final day schedules will be communicated directly with registered participants.
Pre-Workshop Webinar/Meeting
Prior to the on-snow workshops all participants are required to take part in a pre-course meeting facilitated by the presenter. Details will be communicated directly with registered participants.
Equipment
Participants should arrive to the workshops with snowboard equipment ready to head out onto the snow.
Accreditation Information
Snow Australia's Coaching Fundamentals consists of online education and practical workshops designed for coaches working predominantly at Interschools, club and domestic level in Australia.
