WHAT IS SSA FUTURES

SSA Futures is a Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) athlete development and talent identification program. SSA Futures has a vision to enhance the opportunities and resources for athletes in the SSA athlete pathway. SSA Futures programs aim to:

• Introduce developing athletes to elite sporting opportunities and elite sports people
• Increase knowledge of the athlete pathway, selection criteria and the various opportunities, resources and programs available to Australian snow sports athletes
• Establish a consistent and unified approach to athlete development
• Engage National Team athletes and programs in pathway development initiatives
• Provide athletes with superior technical coaching and performance opportunities
• Encourage involvement in SSA domestic ski/snowboard events
• Bridge the gap between Interschools competition participation and involvement in seasonal SSA Pathway Programs

SSA FUTURES: One Team, One Goal

From the 2017 SSA Alpine Review, the National Alpine Committee (NAC) recognized the need to empower and support our Alpine Clubs to deliver best practices for athletic development. Building positive club environments and culture is one element which contributes to best practice for athletic development.

The sessions with Sami Kennedy-Sim are designed to bring an element of team building and mentoring to the Alpine Clubs and Athletes. Sami Kennedy-Sim and SSA Alpine Director, Mick Branch will spend an on-snow training day and deliver a team-building session to Alpine Clubs.
 

On Snow Activities: 

 To ski as per normal Alpine training program

Off- Snow Activities:

The sessions should be no longer than 30 mins and will include  Two Team Building exercises (requiring minimal equipment), brainstorming, reflections and an introduction to Sami’s journey from club athlete to Olympian.
