The AUSXC Junior Development Tour is a 4-week international development program for athletes aged approximately 15-17 (born 1999-2001), including a number of Australian Junior Team members. The Tour will be led by coach Chris "Darlo" Darlington, former World Championship representative and current chair of the SSA XC Athlete Development sub-committee, and be based for the most part in Canmore, Canada. Assistant coach for the Tour is Tori Adams, current Victorian Junior Team coach.

Daily training will include sessions with Canmore Nordic, one of Canada’s leading clubs. At the end of the trip the team will compete at the Western Canadian Championships at the Whistler Olympic Park

The main athletic aims of the trip are:

1. Increasing training time on snow;Improving skiing technique;
2. Learning how to travel, train and race as a team;
3. Learning to manage fatigue, recovery and nutrition while on the road, and;
4. Building cohesion with future National Team team-mates.

Full Time Program

It is expected that the majority of athletes will take part in the full duration of the tour from December 26 to January 23. If any athletes wish to arrive later or depart earlier, this will need to be negotiated directly with the tour coaches and SSA XC Program Director.

Deposit

We ask all interested athletes to secure their spot in the program by paying a $1000 deposit. Please note credit card transactions will incur a 2% fee. If you would like to pay via an alternative method please continue to register online and use one of the following payment methods

Final Program Fees

The final program fees will be determined following a tour fundraising campaign via the Australian Sports Foundation. Donations via the ASF are tax deductible, however for relations/associates of tour participants donations are limited to $300 multiplied by the number of tour participants (e.g. $3000 per person for a tour with 8 athletes and 2 coaches).
