Alpine/Ski Cross Club Athlete Preparation Camp @ the AIS

The Alpine/Ski Cross Athlete Preparation Camp aims to educate and prepare U16 and FIS Athletes aged between 2004 to 1999 on best practice for athlete preparation and development within a team performance environment.

The camp will be delivered by our OWIA/SSA and Club Coaches, with support from the expertise, services and facilities of the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. This two and a half day residential camp is targeted at Alpine and Ski Cross Athletes born between 2004 to 1999. 

This is a unique opportunity for young athletes to experience the pinnacle of high-performance training at the AIS within a team environment while learning more about what it takes to become a successful Alpine/Ski Cross FIS Athlete across the Australian and International seasons.

The Alpine/Ski Cross Athlete Preparation Camp is possible due to the support of NSW/ACT/QLD Alpine and SSA.

Who it is for?

This camp is free of charge for Alpine / Ski Cross Athletes who have:

  • Alpine Junior membership OR Alpine Racer membership. 
  • Born 2004 to 1999

What is it?
The two-and-half day camp has a residential option and will include sessions on:

Strength & Conditioning
Acrobatics
Recovery
Goal Setting
Skill Progression
ASADA
FIS Information & Overview
Parents are encouraged to attend some of the educational sessions with their athletes on Sunday afternoon.

When is it?
Starts: Friday 25th of October:  3:00pm

Concludes: Sunday 27th of October: 2:30pm

Accommodation and Meals
This is a residential camp. For those travelling from interstate to attend, single-room accommodation (two night – Friday/Saturday) and meals will be provided at the AIS campus.

ACT-based athletes can either choose to stay on campus (experience what it’s like to stay/travel with a team) or stay at home and commute to the AIS for the daily program.

Lunch is provided each day for all camp participants in the AIS dining hall. Dinner on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday is also provided to those staying at the campus accommodation.
Special dietary requirements can be catered for if known in advance.

Supervision for camp participants staying on campus will be provided by SSA Staff members and Club Coaches

Equipment:
Wear comfortable sportswear and bring a water bottle. 

Camp participants staying on campus will need to bring an overnight bag of personal items needed for your stay. More information on what to bring will be provided closer to the camp date.

Transport: 
All participants are required to make their own way to and from the AIS.  Transfers to and from the Canberra City Bus Terminal and/or Airport to and from the AIS can be arranged.

How to Apply:
You can secure a place by registering online.  Please be aware that the camp will require a minimum of 20 participants to run.  With this in mind there will be a limit on the number of athletes we can cater for, so please secure your place ASAP.
