Background

The AUSXC Junior/ U23 Tour for 2019/20 has two distinct periods, designed for athletes preparing to race at 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games and the 2020 Junior & U23 World Championships as well as for athletes building towards future international events. Both training periods will be predominantly based in Davos, Switzerland. Daily training and living arrangements will be managed by Australian coaches, with sessions also coordinated with the AUS senior team. Local Swiss and other European competitions will be used for event preparation and race experience.

Period 1

• December 8: Arrive in Davos, Switzerland
• December 8 to January 15: Training in Davos
• December 19-21: OPA Cup, St Ulrich (AUT)
• January 4-5: Swiss & OPA Cup, Campra (SUI)
• January 11-12: Local competition TBC
• January 16-22: WYOG, Lausanne (SUI)
• January 16: Departure for Australia (non-WYOG)

Period 2

• *January 19-31: TBC Training in Goms or Realp (SUI)
• February 1-2: Swiss Cup, Realp (SUI)
• February 3-25: Training in Davos
• February 8-9: OPA Cup, Piancavallo (ITA)
• February 22-23: Local competitions TBC
• February 24: Departure for Australia (non-WJC/U23)

WJC/U23

• February 25: Travel to Oberwiesenthal (GER)
• Feburary 29 - March 7: World Junior/U23 Championship in Oberwiesenthal (GER)
• March 8: Departure for Australia or own program

*WJC/U23 A-qualified athletes may be able to also  participate in Period 1.

Who Can Attend?

This tour is for members of the Australian Junior Team and invited athletes. Additional performance criteria apply for selection to the 2020 World Junior-U23 Championships.

Finances & Deposit

Preliminary trip expenses have already been circulated to Australian Junior Team athletes. A deposit of $1000 is required by Friday September 27. The full tour fee will then need to be paid prior to athletes departing from Australia. Please note credit card transactions will incur a 2% fee.
