The National Alpine Committee have followed through on their commitment to promote physical preparation to compete in Alpine disciplines.
The State Institute of Sport (SIS) system has been engaged to carry out the physical testing in line with the SSA testing protocol which can be found here.
By utilising the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS), the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) and the ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS) the quality of testing is assured. Complete objectivity and uniformity can be expected across all institutes.
The May testing window should be considered baseline testing, to give each athlete a good understanding of the current strengths and areas of opportunity. Following baseline testing, SSA will publish generic physical programming to assist athletes make changes before the beginning of the ski season.
In 2017 the costs for Physical Testing and the Skills Assessment have been included in the 2017/18 SSA Membership fee.
All SSA Alpine athletes are expected to take part in the physical testing. In order to be eligible for selection in any named SSA National Team or Squad, athletes must have taken part in this May 2017 physical testing.

Saturday 6 May - 12.30pm - 5.00pm
Sunday 7 May - 8.30am - 1.00pm

Parking
Parking is available behind the NSWIS building, be sure to have your parking validated through NSWIS prior to departure
Accommodation
No accommodation is provided, please contact NSW Alpine for assistance with billeting athletes as required
Food
Athletes should their own snacks and water on both days
Camp Director
The testing will be run by NSWIS strength and conditioning staff lead by Jarryd Knapp. National Alpine Committee member Manfred Wolscher will oversee the testing
Cost
The cost of physical testing is part of your 2017 SSA Alpine Membership, there are no add on fees for this service
Registration
All athletes must register through the online registration prior to Friday, April 28th
Requirements
All athletes must read, understand and sign the attached waiver and take it to NSWIS on the first day of testing.
*All participants will be expected to purchase an SSA Membership once registrations open on May 1 or shortly thereafter. If you do not renew your membership but do participate in the Physical Testing, you will be charged $200 for the cost of your participation.
