AJ BEAR

Discipline: Alpine

Olympic Participation: Salt Lake City 2002, Torino 2006

Being an Olympian is no easy feat for anyone, let alone being a dual Olympian but AJ Bear has managed to accomplish this and more in his skiing career. From early in his career, it was obvious that AJ would go far as he was a three-time National Australian Champion (1997, 2000, and 2001) and winner of the 2001 National Junior Championship held at Hotham.

On the back of these and many more performances, he qualified for the Salt Lake City Olympics where he competed in the Downhill, Super Combined, and Super-G. Achieving a career Olympic best result of 37th in Downhill.

Qualifying for Torino was not easy for AJ, as the prior three seasons were finished early due to major injuries. Despite this the NSW skier overcame these pitfalls to qualify. He started off promising after the first run however he was unable to complete his second run.

Outside of the Olympics, AJ had a successful career filled with previously stated podiums plus many across the ANC, Nor-AM Cup and CIT as well as posting some solid World Cup, European Cup and World Championship performances.

He retired from the sport after the Torino Games.
