ANDREW BOR

Discipline: Para Alpine Guide

Paralympic Participation: Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014

While Andrew did not start out as a sighted guide, he however was not a stranger to the Paralympic team serving as the Assistant Coach in Torino and was likely going to continue in this role until Melissa Perrine needed a visual guide. With her, they competed in two Paralympic Games in Vancouver and Sochi and while they did not medal in either, they put up some strong runs.

In Vancouver, they placed 5th in Downhill, 7th in Super G, 8th in Slalom and DNFs in Super Combined and Giant Slalom. In Sochi, they placed 4th in Downhill, were Disqualified in the Super Combined and DNFs in Super G, Slalom and Giant Slalom.

Together, their best results were in Sestriere for the 2011 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships, where they won Silver in the Women’s Downhill and Bronze in the Women’s Super-G and Women’s Super combined.

They also competed in the New Zealand Winter Games where they wiped out the Gold’s in the Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super G beating second place in the Slalom event by 50 seconds.

Andrew and Melissa parted ways after the Sochi Olympics and Andrew is now retired from competitive skiing.
