Discipline: Para Alpine Guide Paralympic Participation: PyeongChang 2018 Sighted guide Jeremy first linked up with vision impaired skier Shaun Pianta in late 2015, and together they began working towards selection for the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Games. As the sighted guide to Shaun, Jeremy skis in front issuing voice commands and information about changes in pitch, rhythm and snow conditions while racing at speeds of up to 105km/h. Born and raised in Bright, Victoria, Jeremy began competing in alpine skiing in 2000, making his international debut five years later at an International Ski Federation (FIS) race in Italy. With previous experience as a guide for Paralympic medallists Jessica Gallagher and Prue Watt, it wasn’t long before Jeremy and Shaun found their rhythm. Together they gained crucial international experience at the 2017 IPC Alpine Skiing Europa Cup in Veysonnaz, Switzerland, posting career-best scores in the men’s Super-G race two and Giant Slalom to finish second in both events, before making their World Championships debut later that month at the 2017 World Para-alpine Skiing Championships in Tarvisio, Italy. At the 2018 Winter Paralympics, Shaun and Jeremy competed in two events - 14th in the men's giant slalom visually impaired and did not finish in the men's slalom visually impaired. |
