NATHAN CHIVERS

Discipline: Para Alpine Sighted Guide
Paralympic Participation: Salt Lake City 2002, Vancouver 2010

A school mate to Bart Bunting, Nathan Chivers became his sighted para alpine guide when Bart took up the sport in 1998.

Less than two years later the pair became two-time World Champions after winning the Giant Slalom and Downhill at Anzère, Switzerland in 2000. Going on to represent Australia at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Paralympic Games, the pair won gold in Downhill and Super G and picked up silver in Giant Slalom.

Their achievements helped propel Australia to a record high eighth place on the medal tally.

Injury and study commitments prevented Bunting and Chivers from appearing at the 2006 Games, however they returned for a final Paralympic appearance at Vancouver 2010.
