Ramone Cooper
1988 -
Discipline: Freestyle Moguls Growing up in the Snowy Mountains, Ramone Cooper skied at Perisher and joined the Perisher Winter Sports Club. He made his World Cup debut in 2005. Over six years on the World Cup circuit, Cooper recorded his best World Cup placing, nineth, at Sumo Finland in 2009. His best World Championships result was a 15th place in both the Moguls and Dual Moguls in Madonna Di Campiglio in 2007. Just weeks before the Vancouver Games, Cooper injured his knee training for the World Cup in Deer Valley. He went through an intense period of rehab and passed the fitness test that allowed him to compete. Cooper has forged a path into a career in Sport Administration, post his Mogul skiing career. He worked at Snow Australia (when it was known as Ski & Snowboard Australia) for 7 years as the National Pathway and Programs Manager. With the Australian Olympic Committee, he has worked in several roles including Athlete’s Commission Member, Performance Manager for the Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018 Australian Olympic Team, and 2016 Lillehammer Australian Youth Winter Olympic Team. He was also the Chef de Mission for the Australian Team at the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games. He has been the Executive Director of the Victorian Olympic Council before moving to Lausanne, Switzerland taking up a role with the World Academy of Sport. |
