SIMON PATMORE OAM

Discipline: Para Snowboard
Paralympic Participation: PyeongChang 2018

Already a Commonwealth Games and Summer Olympic Games medallist, Simon switched from athletics to snowboarding after finding out a classification for upper limb impairment would be included at PyeongChang 2018.

He made his World Cup debut in 2014 and steadily improved before scoring a pair of podiums at Big White, Canada in February 2016. The following month he broke through for the first of three career World Cup gold medals in Trentino, Italy.

Becoming the first Australian male to compete at a Paralympic Summer and Winter Games, Simon’s Snowboard Cross victory was Australia’s first Winter Paralympic gold medal since 2002. He backed that up four days later with Banked Slalom bronze.
