2016 SBX Futures a great success
Published Thu 04 Aug 2016
The 2016 SSA SBX Futures program has wrapped up following two days of coaching, training and education.
This year saw 65 enthusiastic young riders from around Australia make the trip to Hotham to receive expert coaching and guidance from Australia's best SBX athletes.
The two days, which lead into the SBX FIS ANC and Grommet races, provided participants with a top to bottom experience of what it takes to make it in the sport. This included both on and off snow sessions in small groups with the athletes and coaches.
In its 6th year as a futures program, numbers have grown considerably and Program Manager, Ramone Cooper, believes "it is a key step in the athlete pathway, providing young riders the opportunity to rub shoulders with the best athletes and coaches. The support we receive from the Olympic Winter Institute and Mt Hotham resort is incredibly valuable and ensures future success in the sport."
The sessions also provided SSA's Para-Snowboard athletes to align their training with their able body counterparts.
A big thank you to all the following for their help with the Futures program
