Function Cancellation
Change of Format

Based on the current advice from the Government, including the banning of groups of more than 100 people in enclosed areas, we regret to announce that the 2020 Snow Australia Awards function will not be taking place in Melbourne on 23rd April.

However, Snow Australia is developing an alternative format to recognise and celebrate the incredible achievements of our athletes over the past 12 months.

In a remarkable Northern winter for our sport, several athletes finished the season ranked number one in the world including Scotty James, Laura Peel and Ben Tudhope. Jakara Anthony and Belle Brockhoff (who completed a remarkable comeback from injury) finished their winters ranked second in the world. While many other athletes achieved podium performances and career best results.

The nomination process and judging of the awards will proceed as normal with a view to announcing finalists and winners in the traditional timeframe.

Snow Australia CEO Michael Kennedy said: “The Snow Australia Awards are an annual highlight for our athletes and our sport partners, and we are naturally disappointed we can’t come together this year to celebrate the achievements of our athletes over the past year. However, we know there is a much bigger issue we are all confronting and we ask our community to stay safe, follow the guidelines and do their part in ensuring we minimise the devastating impact the coronavirus is having on our entire nation.”

“We will celebrate the achievements of our athletes and coaches and ensure they receive the recognition they deserve for their amazing performances.”

Details regarding the format for the announcement of the 2020 Snow Australia Awards will be communicated in the coming weeks.
