2025 SNOW AUSTRALIA AWARDS JUNIOR ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

The 2025 Snow Australia Awards recognise the achievements of athletes across the 2024/25 season on the domestic and international scene and we are delighted to name the Junior Athletes of the Year as nominated by their respective National Discipline Committees.

Each discipline’s award winner is now nominated for the 2025 Junior Athlete of the Year, presented by Karbon, which will be presented at the 2025 Snow Australia Awards in Melbourne on Thursday 1 May - Click here to purchase tickets.

Over the coming week we will also be revealing the male and female discipline Athletes of the Year for Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.


Alpine Skiing Junior Athlete of the Year - Phoebe Heaydon

Phoebe finished on top of the podium five times this season with two wins at FIS races, one at a National Junior race in Italy as well as slalom victories at the Belgian National Junior Championships and the GB Alpine Championships.

Phoebe placed 17th in slalom at the World Junior Championships in Italy and made her World Championships debut at Saalbach in February.

 

 

 

 


Cross Country Skiing Junior Athlete of the Year - Jayden Spring

Jayden Spring is the current leading male junior cross country skier. Highlights from this past year include:

Jayden started his season’s campaign by winning the 2024 Australian Open Rollerski Championship in both Sprint and 10km. He continued that form to win the Australian Open Sprint which helped him secure second place on the Australia New Zealand Cup standings.

At the 2025 Junior World Championships, Jayden finished 18th in qualifying to proceed to the elimination heats. He finished 27th, making the Top 30 at Junior Worlds for the second straight year.

 

 

Freeski Park & Pipe Junior Athlete of the Year (Halfpipe) - Indra Brown

After taking out the Australia New Zealand Cup at Cardona in halfpipe and finishing third in big air, Indra continued her form in the United States where she never finished worse than fifth in any event.

While still competing across all three freeski disciplines, her best results came on the halfpipe where she took out the USASA National Championships at Copper Mountain, won a Nor-Am Cup Premium event in Aspen and finished fourth overall. 

 

 


Freeski Park & Pipe Junior Athlete of the Year (Slopestyle/Big Air) - Daisy Thomas

After making her World Cup debut last season, Daisy Thomas enjoyed her first full season competing at senior level in 2024/25.

The Winter Youth Olympics silver medallist took part in nine World Cups, with two top 10s and two 11th place finishes showing she has what it takes to make it at the highest level.

Daisy also made her World Champs debut in March with her best result coming in slopestyle where she finished in 20th.

 

 

 

 

Moguls Junior Athlete of the Year - Charlotte Wilson

Charlotte Wilson started the season with a World Cup debut and finished it as a genuine contender for years to come.

After four top 10s from her first nine starts, Charlotte then shocked the sport as won the Dual Moguls World Cup at the Olympic Test Event in Livigno, taking down the skiers ranked first, second and fourth along the way.

Charlotte finished her maiden World Cup campaign 12th on the overall standings, and was named FIS Rookie of the Year.

 

 

Ski Cross Junior Athlete of the Year - Duncan Cowan

Duncan Cowan produced some of the most eye-catching results of any emerging Australian Winter Sports athletes this year.

The Sydneysider won five of the six Nor-Am Cup races he contested to wrap up the Overall Ski Cross title even before the final events were held, becoming the first Australian Ski Cross athlete to achieve this feat.

Duncan skipped those events to compete at the Junior World Championships in France where he finished ninth in the individual event and 10th in the Mixed Team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ski Mountaineering Junior Athlete of the Year - Ava McCann

Ava McCann had an impressive debut season competing in the SkiMo World Cup, contesting three Sprint events and two Mixed relays in the Open class.

She also raced a Youth World Cup in Italy in which she finished ninth.

Ava's World Cup results, which included a top 50 in the Sprint in Boi Taull and 66th in the Olympic Test Event in Bormio have seen her achieve  the qualifying standard for Milano-Cortina 2026.

 

 

 

 


Snowboard Cross Junior Athlete of the Year - Maya Billingham

After a solid season on the European Cup tour with seven top 10 results including two 4th place finishes, Maya Billingham’s credentials as yet another leading Australian Snowboard Cross rider were established at the Junior World Championships.

Not only did Maya ride her way to the silver medal behind the World Cup Crystal Globe winner, she also combined with Cameron Turner for another second place finish in the Mixed Team Event.

 

 

 

 

 


Snowboard Park & Pipe Junior Athlete of the Year (Halfpipe) - Amelie Haskell

A Winter Youth Olympian in 2024, Amelie made her World Cup debut in December and recorded a highly-impressive 13th place finish at just her second event at that level.

She also scored a Nor-Am Cup podium with a third place at Mammoth Mountain and now has three World Cup starts to her name.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Snowboard Park & Pipe Junior Athlete of the Year (Slopestyle/Big Air) - Ally Hickman

Ally made her first career World Cup appearances this season with her best result coming on debut when she scored a 10th place slopestyle finish in Laax.

Ally went on to make a total of five World Cup starts, recorded two Nor-Am Cup podiums including a Slopestyle victory in Stoneham, and goes into 25/26 as the reigning Australia New Zealand Cup champion in Snowboard Park & Pipe.
