7 things you didn't know about Dominic Demschar

Dominic Demschar is looking to make his second Olympic appearance in PyeongChang after making his Games debut four years ago in Sochi. 

Here are 7 things you didn't know about the 24-year-old alpine skier. 

1. I am currently studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Utah

I am three years through my course but have decided to take this year off from school to focus on training and trying to qualify for my second Olympics.

2. I competed at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games

I finished 39th in a field of 109 in the men's Giant Slalom and didn't finish my second run of the Slalom.

3. I am a Liverpool fan

I am an avid soccer fan and played growing up my dad also supports Liverpool but my brother supports Arsenal which makes for some fun weekends.

4. My dad Herwig Demschar was a long time coach on the World Cup

My dad coached the Austrian men, was head coach of the Austrian women, and head coach of the USA women.

5. I have a younger sister

Most people know that I have a younger brother because he ski raced with me for a long time, but a lot of people seem to forget or just don’t know that I have a younger sister as well named Isabel.

6. I race for the University of Utah Ski Team

For the last 3 years I have been racing for the University of Utah Ski Team.  In the US, Alpine Skiing is a Division 1 NCAA sport and Utah were the national champions last year.

7. I speak German and I used to speak Italian

My dad is Austrian and so I grew up speaking English and German. I also lived in Italy for 2 years when I was young and learned to speak Italian but have since forgotten just about all of it.
