Alpine Director Update - May 2023

Dear Alpine Community,

With another ski season opening less than 1 month away it is time to get excited and get ready for the season at hand.

Physical preparation is always a big key to making sure we get the most out of every day on snow and I encourage all our members to enjoy the last weeks of autumn and get outside and be active. SnowReady sessions, hosted by 3x Olympian Sami Kennedy-Sim, are available from the Snow Australia website, and I encourage everyone, young or old, to take part.

It is also an important time to start making sure our equipment is in order, in proper condition, and well-tuned. If you are looking to purchase new skis or boots it is always a good idea to check with your club beforehand to get the best recommendations around suitable equipment for your age and level. If you’re looking to grab a bargain, make sure you had to the Jindabyne Snow Sale at the Jindabyne Memorial Hall on 10 & 11 June. Check out the Jindabyne Snow Sale details HERE.

Make sure to check and update your membership with Snow Australia. This membership fee helps to fund many initiatives across the pathway at club level and towards the National Alpine Team, your support is greatly appreciated.

We are currently engaged with all of the clubs to finalise dates for Snow Australia staff to visit, helping to deliver Skills Assessments, Athlete and Coach Workshops, Parent Town Halls and Pathway presentations along with other initiatives as driven by each clubs leadership.

• September 4th – 8th Mt Hotham ANC Alpine (GS & SL)
• September 13th – 15th Perisher Snow Australia Alpine National Championships and National Junior Championships (GS & SL)
