Dear Alpine Community,

International ski racing competition has returned in recent weeks, and it has been exciting to tune in through Snow Live X FIS TV to watch our National Team athletes battle it out against the best in the world. The fun started in late October with Louis Muhlen-Schulte competing in the GS World Cup in Soelden Austria finishing in 51st position. A few short weeks later it was time for the World Cup SL races in Levi, Finland. This time around we had Madison Hoffman, Louis Muhlen-Schulte and Hugh McAdam representing Australia. This was Hugh McAdam’s World Cup debut with a spot earned through winning the ANC SL title this winter in New Zealand.

Most recently in Gurgl, Austria, we had both Louis and Madi in action again in World Cup SL with Louis agonizingly missing the Top 30 after 1st run by only 5 hundredths of a second. This would have represented the first time in Australian alpine history that a male qualified for a second run in World Cup slalom. Exciting times to say the least and the northern winter is only beginning!

Look out for action from Madi Hoffman this weekend in Killington, USA, where Madi will compete in both World Cup GS and SL as Mikaela Shiffrin looks for her 100th WC career victory on home soil. Louis Muhlen-Schulte will also be in the US competing in the World Cup GS in Beaver Creek on December 8th. Greta Small will be starting off her season in Beaver Creek with both a Downhill and Super G on December 14th and 15th respectively. National Ski Cross Team member Liam Michael will be competing in his first World Cup for the season in Val Thorens, France, December 10th to 14th.

There will also plenty of action in both NorAm and Europa Cup events in the coming weeks with National Alpine Ski Team members Hugh McAdam, Tom Hoffman, Harry Hoffman, Connor Leggett, Henry Heaydon, Phoebe Heaydon, Sammie Gaul and Zali Sutton starting off their seasons.

All the best to all our athletes who are starting off their competitive seasons over the coming weeks! We would love to see and share your training and race experiences with everyone @snowaust on Instagram, so we can reshare to the wider community.

For those looking to compete this northern winter, please remember to submit your International Competition EOI to entries@snow.org.au . Before you submit your EOI, please ensure you have the correct Membership and insurance. See below for more information.

All the best,
Shawn
