Anti-Doping and Sport Integrity Update
Published Mon 20 Jul 2020
As the National Federation for snowsports it is Snow Australia's responsibility to ensure the integrity of our sport is upheld. Part of that responsibility is implementing an anti-doping policy and providing educational resources and information to our registered competitors and members.
There has recently been significant changes in the area of sport integrity and we would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on these changes and remind you of your obligations as a participant, athlete, coach or parent.
Introducing Sport Integrity Australia (SIA)
As of July 1 the functions of the Australian Sport Anti-Doping Agency (ASADA), National Integrity of Sport Unit (NISU) and other national integrity programs of Sport Australia were combined to a single nationally coordinated organisation, Sport Integrity Australia (SIA).
SIA now provides advice and assistance to counter:
- Use of prohibited substances and methods in sport
- Abuse of children and other persons in a sporting environment
- Manipulation of sporting competitions
- Failure to protect members of sporting organisations and other persons in a sporting environment from bullying, intimidation, discrimination or harassment.

Snow Australia Anti-Doping Policy
You should all be familiar with Snow Australia’s Anti-Doping policy. With the above changes to ASADA with the implementation of SIA we will soon be releasing an updated Anti-Doping Policy. Once finalised you will be provided with a copy of the policy and be asked to acknowledge you have read and understand your obligations. In the meantime, a variation statement has been added to the Anti-Doping page of the Snow Australia website which recognises these organisational changes.
