Grimus commented online that he felt as though the time was right to call time on his career.

“I have decided the time is right to hang up the racing boots and close a huge chapter of my life,” Grimus said.

“Thanks to everyone who played a part in the journey. I could not have achieved what I have without the help of many,” he said.

Grimus lined up in his first World Cup event in 2010 and since has travelled all over the world competing in the sport that he loves.

“Skiing has taken me all over the world to places I would not even imagined of skiing, introduced me to many of my best friends and taught me a lot about life and myself that I will take on with me in the next chapter!”

Snow Australia Chief Executive Officer Michael Kennedy said that Grimus has been an integral part of the Ski Cross program since its inception and has always approached his sport with passion, personality and professionalism.

“Anton has been such a great asset to the sport with his larger than life persona and fierce determination. He leaves the sport having achieved podium success at the World Cup level. A claim which very few Australian athletes can make upon retirement” Kennedy said.

“On behalf of the ski and snowboard community we wish Anton all the best for his future endeavours and hope to still see him round the slopes for many years to come.
