The 2025 FIS Snowboard, Freestyle & Freeski World Championships are underway in Engadin, Switzerland with Australia’s team of 33 athletes ready to finish their season on a high.

Sixteen of the athletes competing over the next two weeks have earned at least one podium at World Championships, there are five Olympic medallists in the team while eight athletes have already experienced what it is like to be on the World Championships podium.

Of those accomplished athletes, three have already been crowned World Champions - freestyle skier Laura Peel (2015 and 2021), snowboarder Scotty James (2015, 2017 and 2019) and Jarryd Hughes, who took out Snowboard Cross Team gold with Belle Brockhoff in 2021.

Of the disciplines being contested in Switzerland, Australia has already reached World Cup podiums this season in Aerials, Moguls, Snowboard Cross, Freeski Slopestyle and Snowboard Halfpipe.

Despite nearly half of the Australian contingent already proving themselves by winning medals at World Cup level, 13 of the team will be making their World Championships debut, showcasing a team of established talent and rising stars.

The selection of so many up-and-coming athletes is a testament to the Snow Australia performance pathway which includes the relationships with Institute partners as well as Snow Australia’s Emerging Talent Program.
