Australian cross country history made in PyeongChang

It has been a historic night for Australian Cross Country Skiing after Aimee Watson and Jessica Yeaton claimed career best finishes.
The Aussie duo both scored World Cup points in the 15km Skiathlon event after they both secured top 30 finishes at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic test event.
25-year-old Yeaton finished 24th just under five minutes off winner Justina Kowalczyk of Poland with Sochi 2014 Olympian Aimee Watson claiming 27th.
It is the first time that two Australians have both claimed World Cup points in the one event.
The results came off the back of Yeaton moving through to the quarter-finals of the Sprint event on Friday, the first Australian ever to make it into the final rounds of a World Cup.
In the men’s event Aimee’s brother and fellow Sochi Olympian Callum scored a personal best when he finished 31st in the 30km Skiathlon.
Teammate Paul Kovacs, who is looking to push for his first Olympic appearance in PyeongChang, was unfortunately lapped out of the race with only 5km to go, ending up ranked 33rd.
The final events of the competition take place on Sunday evening AEDT.
