AUSXC Awards & Rollerski Races in Canberra
Published Fri 04 Apr 2025
With just over a week to go before the 2025 Australian Rollerski Races in Canberra, the National Discipline Committee for Cross Country would like to announce the return of the AUSXC Awards on 12 April as part of the rollerski race weekend.
The AUSXC Awards were last held in 2019, pre-Covid. In addition to announcing the XC nominees for the Snow Australia Awards to be held in Melbourne on 1 May, the AUSXC Awards recognise other efforts and acheivements within the cross country skiing community from the past year.
The 2024/2025 international season was a successful one for Australian cross country skiing, with many personal and Australian best results including the first ever FIS championship medal at the World U23s. Other events this season included the World Juniors, World Masters, World Championships and World University Games.
The AUSXC Awards are to be held at the Ainslie Football Club on Saturday evening starting from 6.00pm. Tickets are $10, registration is available via this link.
2025 AUS Rollerski Championship
Featuring Sprint and Criterium events in Freestyle technique, the Australian Rollerski Championship will once again be held at the Stromlo Forest Park in Canberra.
The 2024 AUS Rollerski Championships were dominated by up and coming junior skiers Satara Moon and Jayden Spring. Competition is expected to be tougher in 2025, with World Cup athletes Phoebe Cridland, Lars Young Vik and Bentley Walker-Broose expected on the starting line-up alongside the leading junior athletes.
Categories for racing on both days include Open, Juniors (U20, U16 and U12), Masters and Para.
Registration for the races is available here. Although late entries are also accepted on the day, participants are encouraged to enter by Wednesday 9 April to assist race organisers in planning.
FIS TD Seminar
To round out a big long weekend of XC activities in Canberra, a FIS TD Seminar for Cross Country Skiing will be held on April 11-13. Theory sessions will take place at the AIS on the Friday, with practical experience and additional sessions involving the rollerski races at Stromlo.
Interested new TDs should contact Finn Marsland for more information via fmarsland@snow.org.au.
