Australia's para snowsports athletes are celebrating the conclusion of an awesome season following more medals and World Cup Crystal globes collected in PyeongChang over the weekend.
Mel Perrine and guide Andy Bor took two medals over the weekend, with second place in the women's visually impaired Super G on Saturday, followed by top runs in the Slalom to take third place on Sunday.
This adds to Perrine and Bor's major medal haul, totalling 12 medals over the season, including five from PyeongChang this week and placing Perrine fourth on the overall IPC World Cup rankings.
Over the weekend, front runner for the overall title, Mitch Gourley did not finish his Giant Slalom run, dropping his points, but remaining high enough in the rankings to secure the overall men’s Giant Slalom IPC World Cup Crystal Globe.
Gourley came fourth in Slalom on Sunday and secured third in the overall men's Slalom for the season, though just short of the overall World Cup alpine rankings for all disciplines with 1080 points, just behind Markus Salcher of Austria with 1243 to take second place overall. Gourley also came third in the overall men’s Slalom and has claimed a fantastic eight medals this season.
Tori Pendergast did not finish women's sit-ski Giant Slalom and came eighth in the Slalom.
The team have had an unbelievable season with a total of 29 World Cup and World Championship medals awarded plus two World Cup Crystal globes by Gourley and Joany Badenhorst earlier last week.
Badenhorst has won eight medals this season and also finished third overall in world cup standings in her class.
