Snowboard Cross Beijing 2022 Olympians Josie Baff and Adam Lambert have shown their dominant form during the domestic season, taking out the Snowboard Cross Australian New Zealand Cup (ANC) 2022 titles.
Their overall ANC crowns come off the back of the three-event race series held at Mt Hotham in September 2022.
Baff ends the domestic season with the maximum 300 points after winning gold in all three events. She won the title ahead of up-and-coming riders Amber Essex (220 points) and Taya-Lilli Dent (170 points).
Baff told the OWIA that she was stoked with her pre-season training and on-snow results, which have primed her nicely for the upcoming international season
“After a solid block of off-snow training throughout the preseason and finishing on the wins at the ANCs, I’m going into this season feeling more prepared and more motivated than ever,” Baff shared with the OWIA.
“It was so fun to get back on track with the team down in Hotham, and I’m looking forward to carrying this energy into the World Cup season ahead.”
The top spot in the men’s competition was a tight tustel between dual Olympian Adam Lambert and three-time Olympian Cam Bolton.
Only 20 points separated the two riders in the overall standings, after Lambert won two gold and a silver, finishing the domestic season on 280 points, to Bolton’s two silver and a gold on 260 points.
Japan’s Takeru Tebakari placed third in the overall ANC standings on 155 points, just ahead of Aussie Declan Dent on 150 points.
Lambert told the OWIA that his recent results have him feeling confident heading into the international season
“I'm super happy with how the Aussie winter has gone, I'm feeling great in the gym and even better on the course! Very excited to get this season started overseas in less than a month,” he said.
Talking with the OWIA after his season, SBX team veteran Bolton congratulated his teammates on a fantastic season.
“Lambo and Josie are riding at such a high level and it's been great training heats with them,” he told the OWIA.
“We've also been training with the NSWIS team who have really been pushing us both on and off the snow - especially Kobi and Declan. It has been an unreal training environment.
“I was blown away by the level of riding at the ANCs and I've never seen so much promise in the youth of Australian SBX. The hopes, the dreams and the amount of work these kids are putting in is phenomenal and it is ensuring a bright future for our sport.”
