Bring the Little Shredders Program into your Classroom in Term 3

We know that a young person’s first trip to the snow can be a daunting experience, which is why the Snow Australia ‘Little Shredders’ program is the perfect introduction to snowboarding, conducted in a safe and welcoming classroom environment.

Designed to teach kids fundamental snowboarding skills, as well as build their confidence balancing on a board, the Little Shredders program has been developed to be taught in classrooms, giving kids a snowsport experience from the comfort of the indoors.

The curriculum modules cover skills such as snowsport specific balance, technique, equipment and snow safety knowledge, together with spatial awareness exercises in a fun team environment.

Through the Australian Sports Commission’s ‘Sporting Schools’ initiative, primary school teachers can use their Sporting Schools Grants to book the Little Shredders program to be delivered in their school during Term 3, 2023.

"Little Shredders is a great initiative that helps kids get their first taste of snowsports right from the comfort of their classroom, helping to foster a growing love for snowsports from a young age,” said Snow Australia’s Program Operations & Sport Development Coordinator, Johnny Lipzker.

"Little Shredders has been successful in primary schools across the country, giving kids a fun and collaborative experience with one another and teaching them the fundamental skills that are needed to prepare themselves for their first on-snow experience.

“Thanks to the Sporting Schools initiative, we encourage schools to bring Little Shredders into the classroom during Term 3, so students have the opportunity to get a taste for snowboarding in the classroom, before they head to the slopes this winter.”
