Career best result for Alpine skier Louis Muhlen

Overnight Australian Alpine skier Louis Muhlen secured a career best result in Men's Slalom at the FIS Nor-Am Cup event in Burke Mountain, USA.
Louis finished fourth in a strong field of European and North American athletes, only 0.56 seconds behind the winner.
He recently represented his country at last month's 2019 FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Vali di Fass, Italy.
During the event Muhlen trained and competed in four races against the world’s best juniors.
Louis says the experience in Italy taught him a lot of valuable lessons which he will look to use in his skiing straight away.
“Regardless of what is happening around me I know I must be calm and breathe no matter how prepared I am things can and do go wrong
“I learnt I have a great network of people who support me and I need to trust them and work with them when things don’t go to plan,” he said.
Overall, his time in Italy was simply unforgettable.
“It was phenomenal, such a great environment and awesome to put myself up against the rest of the world.
“The food was amazing and skiing through the granite of the Dolomites was special and it’s not every race series you get blue bird days racing,” he said.
Since the races in Italy, the talented skier has returned to the books and gym at college as well as competing at the recent NCAA Ski Championships in Stowe, USA.
Currently he is taking part in the current FIS NorAM Cup before his return to Australia in late May.
