Charlotte Wilson to make her Mogul World Cup Debut

At just 19-years-old, Charlotte Wilson is knocking on the door of the 2024/25 World Cup season, preparing to make her Moguls World Cup debut this weekend at the season-opening event in Ruka, Finland.
Having been on skis since she was just three-years-old, Charlotte is thrilled to have the opportunity to compete and experience the electric World Cup atmosphere.
“I’m very excited and a bit nervous about my World Cup debut this weekend,” Wilson said.
“I can’t wait to compete with, as well as watch and learn from the best mogul skiing athletes in the world, and I just hope I can continue the good work I’ve done in training on comp day.
“I’m excited for the atmosphere of a World Cup Event, and I’m trying to focus on the process and my own run, especially the skills I need to hit to put down my best skiing on the day.”
Earning the number one spot on the podium in the Australian New Zealand Cup in October, Charlotte’s journey to Ruka has been strongly supported by her parents and coaches.
“I started skiing at three, and went through the local ski program until I specialised in mogul skiing at Perisher Winter Sports Club when I was 12,” she said.
“I was then selected into the Australian Development Team in 2022, and from there I competed in Nor-Ams for the last three northern hemisphere seasons, with some personal best results this previous season.
“My parents have been super important in supporting my mogul skiing career and I am so grateful for their support.
“Also, NSWIS coaches Nicole Parks and Kate Blamey have been so influential in my progression within the sport and have helped me make my World Cup debut.”
As a young female mogul skier Charlotte takes inspiration from one of her biggest idols, Olympic gold medallist Jakara Anthony.
“Jakara is obviously one of my biggest idols within mogul skiing,” she said.
“She is incredibly determined and disciplined and it’s incredible to train within her environment and really experience first hand her approach to training.
“I also admire her aggression in her skiing, and I’m hoping to bring some of that energy and aggression into my skiing this season.”
Placing fifth in Team Dual Moguls at the 2023 Junior World Championships alongside Oliver Logan, who made his World Cup debut last season, Charlotte’s debut will see her supported by many fellow Aussies also competing this weekend.
