After two seasons of interruptions, the Snow Australia Children’s Carnival has returned in 2022.

Thredbo hosted athletes from across the country for four days of racing in Ski Cross, Giant Slalom and Slalom for U14 and U16 athletes.

Spring has definitely sprung across the alps but the Alpine/Ski Cross communities banded together to ensure that the events went ahead without a hitch.  With so many events on offer, athletes had multiple chances to put their seasons training to the test.

Technical Delegate Alice Chilcott commented on how fantastic the return to racing has been.

“This weekend we have had high quality courses after a two-year absence, and it couldn’t have been achieved without the efforts of all volunteers across the four days of events," she said.

Mt Buller Race Club Athlete Lara Kelly skied away with the U14 female overall winner honours, while Archie Gould of Falls Creek Race Club was the overall winner of the U14 men.

On the U16 side, Thredbo Ski Racing Club athletes Madi Gilson and Ed Selig were crowned the U16 female and male overall winners respectively.

Madi Gilson reflected on the series with enthusiasm.

“It was incredible to finally race in my first Snow Australia Children’s Carnival after COVID," she said.

"It was so good having all the Australian clubs back together again. I am super happy with my results this weekend and am looking forward to participating again next season.”

Thank you to Thredbo and Thredbo Ski Racing Club for welcoming all athletes and staff to the resort and for hosting such a fun event.
