SSA Club Update - October 2019

Published Tue 01 Oct 2019

Dear Member Clubs of SSA,

The snow season may be winding down, but here at Ski & Snowboard Australia we are continuing to work on initiatives and projects to improve the experience of snowsports participants at all levels of the sport.

As a member club of SSA we are excited to introduce to you one such initiative, the inaugural Community Sport Awards which will recognise those participants, volunteers and 'doers' at the grass roots level of our sport. Often overlooked we are excited to focus on the clubs, coaches, programs, volunteers and developing athletes that help make our sport what it is.

The Community Sport Awards will be held in conjunction with the 2019 National Participation Conference which will bring together snowsports program leaders in education, industry, sport & recreation with the aim to build participation in snowsports. Both of these exciting initiatives will be held in Canberra in November with more information on each included in the newsletter below.

We encourage nominations for the Community Sport Awards from all the clubs, particularly for club of the year and club coach of the year. More information is below on how to nominate.

We are also currently working with our clubs and pathway programs to provide additional value for their members through Snowracer and live timing and the different insurance products we provide. Another area, which we see as incredibly important, is the ongoing strengthening of our clubs governance principles and polices, in particular their Child Safe policies and education. SSA have provided some important resources accessible by the community on its website.

More information on all these items is available below and if you could pass this information on to your club members it would be appreciated.

Regards
Ski & Snowboard Australia
