Sixteen year old Aussie Tess Coady has won the snowboard slopestyle Junior World Championship titles in Spindleruv Mlyn (CZE) overnight.
"I'm over the moon" Coady said of her win on Instagram. "Couldn't have asked for a better day! Congrats to all the girls for killing it as usual!"
In the final run of the ladies’ event, Coady convincingly prevailed with a score of 94.25 to win gold. Japan’s Reira Iwabuchi won silver with 87.50 and Elli Pikkujamsa of Finland rounded out the podium with a score of 84.00.
Coady produced a strong sixth-place finish at the slopestyle World Cup event in Spindleruv Mlyn last Saturday. Competing on the same course, she was feeling confident ahead of the event.
“It will be good to ride an already familiar course again, as there were three more days to practice on it so plenty of time to change up and add things into my run,” she said.
Meanwhile, on the men’s side, 17-year old Chris Corning of the United States topped the podium with a score of 96.75 ahead of teammate Judd Henkes (92.25). Tiarn Collins of New Zealand finished narrowly behind with a score of 92.00 to take bronze.
Action continues with the big air title events on Saturday, 1st April 2017.
