It was the start to the season that Britt Cox had dreamed about, a third place finish in the FIS World Cup season opener event in Ruka, Finland.

After qualifying fourth for the final in a field of 12, Cox secured herself a spot in the second final.

With a score of 78.29, she earned her position in third place on the podium, collecting her 16th World Cup medal (9 gold, 1 silver, 6 bronze) to date.

“I’m so happy and relieved with this start to the season,” Cox said.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been in a super final, and definitely a while since I’ve been on the podium, so this win feels really good.”

The 25-year-old took the opportunity to think back on where it all started.

“Mogul skiing is my absolute passion - I love it to death,” she said.

“I grew up skiing in Falls Creek, that’s where I learnt to ski moguls. Now, every single day when I’m out here and I click into my skis, I think about when I was a little girl in Falls Creek and I still have that same kind of joy and excitement that I get to do this as my job.”

Cox’s team mates also put out some consistent performances to earn their places in their respective finals, with Jakara Anthony finishing in fifth, Claudia Gueli in 17th, Sophie Ash in 34th.

Dual Olympian Matt Graham finished ninth overall in the men’s competition, with Australian team mates Cooper Woods-Topalovic in 24th, Brodie Summers in 31st and James Matheson 43rd.

The Australian Moguls team will now travel to China, where they will compete in the Thaiwoo World Cup on 14-15 December.
