Dana Hatton Joins NSWACT XC winter coaching team

The NSWACT XC committee has appointed Dana Hatton from the USA as Winter Coach for 2023. Dana will work side by side at Perisher with NSWACT XC Head Coach Alexei Sotskov, and is set to arrive in Jindabyne from Maine on May 29.
Dana’s university degrees and broad practical experience in all aspects of XC coaching (dryland and on-snow), including training, competition, athlete support, event management and sport administration, made her selection for the position easy. She is currently the Head Nordic Coach of a strong New England high school Nordic Team (Yarmouth High School, Maine) and has recently held responsible positions at prestigious universities including as Assistant Nordic Coach at Dartmouth College (Hanover, New Hampshire), Chief of Race at the Dartmouth College Carnival and Graduate Assistant Nordic Coach at St Lawrence University (Canton NY) while completing her Masters degree.
Dana’s experience in working with teenagers was deepened by her participation in a significant project as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Boston, completing a school year of service as assistant partner teacher in a high-need inner-city middle school.
“I’m looking forward to this exciting opportunity and meeting everyone," said Dana from Maine, while preparing for the trip. "I’ve never been to Australia but I’m ready to explore the area and start working with the ski community. Can’t wait to get back on the snow!”
For most NSWACT junior skiers the first opportunity to meet Dana will be at the Jindabyne Long Weekend Camp on June 10-12. More details on the camp are available on the NSWACT XC Team App.
