Double silver for Aussies at Para Alpine World Cup

Day two of the Para Alpine World Cup delivered two silver medals for Australia, putting the team is a strong position building towards the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Paralympic Games in just under two months time.

Victoria Pendergast backed up her bronze medal on day one with a silver on day two in the Women Giant Slalom Sit-Ski.

Pleased to be walking away with two medals from the World Cup, she admitted there is still a lot of work to go as she builds towards PyeongChang 2018.

“It was an improvement on yesterday but I still felt I was a bit conservative and I know I can ski better,” said Pendergast.

“Tactically it was an improvement on previous races. There is a bunch I can work on to make up the time and ski technically better, but tactically (that result) was a step in the right direction.”

Fellow team mates Melissa Perrine and guide Christian Geiger also finished with a silver medal on day two in Giant Slalom Visually Impaired.

Perrine and Geiger have had a stellar World Cup season so far, picking up two gold and silver medal across three World Cup meets.

In other Aussie results, Mitch Gourley took sixth place in Giant Slalom Standing with Shaun Pianta and Jeremey O’Sullivan finished ninth in Giant Slalom Visually Impaired. For full results click here.

The World Cup circuit will now move to Veysonnaz, Switzerland, for slalom and giant slalom races across all male and female categories, between 15 and 18 January.
