Extra XC Athletes Selected to 2021/2022 Team

Snow Australia is pleased to announce a number of additional selections to the 2021/2022 National Team.
Seventeen athletes are now selected to the World Cup, Continental Cup and U23 National Teams, including the six athletes that represented Australia at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
"We have a great group of athletes in the pipeline at the moment," said Snow Australia Cross Country Director Finn Marsland. "The fantastic results acheived at the World Junior/U23 Championship earlier this year demonstrated the depth of talent coming through, and the future is looking bright."
The National Team includes five U23 athletes and three juniors that met the performance standard for the Continental Cup Team. A provisional team had been selected following the 2021 Australian winter, with athletes given the opportunity to perform and confirm selection during the northern hemisphere winter.
Two new athletes were selected to the National Team for the first time, former elite cylist John Walker from Melbourne, and Ellen Soehol Lie who is based in Oslo.
It should be noted that a separate Junior Team was not named for 2021/2022, due to limited access to event for many athletes in 2020/2021. However, athletes from the National Junior Squad are invited to training camps, and a number of junior athletes are part of the Snow Australia ETP program for 2022. In addition, a number of recent senior National Team athletes are still invited to take part in 2022 training camps and on-snow training.
National Teams for 2022/2023 will be announced following the 2022 Australian winter.
