Falls Creek XC Spring Camp

Published Thu 22 Sep 2022

AUSXC athletes took advantage of excellent late snow conditions for a spring training camp at Falls Creek from September 11-16. Fourteen athletes participated in the camp under the guidance of NSWACT / AUSXC coach Alexei Sotskov, with guest coaches Alessandro Longo (Italy) and Arlo Hook (S&C, ACTAS). Training for the week was predominantly high volume, with technique refinement throughout.

Charles Hiam, John Mordes

“It was awesome to get Alexei and Alessandro’s technique drills and feedback during the week, and also lovely to have a team back skiing together again. There was a great balance between having a technique focus and skiing to cement these, and I got a great deal out of the classic technique coaching session that Alexei ran as well.” - Ella Jackson

"The camp had an awesome focus on technique development especially in classical striding for me. The food was good also with everyone taking turns, even some of the lesser known chefs of the team managed to cook something delicious, it all contributed to good quality training week." - Seve de Campo

Ella Jackson

“The camp was very insightful and helpful in helping us athletes improve and work on our technique with the help of Alexei and Alessandro. We got in some good solid hours in and we all were keen and enthusiastic to learn and develop.” - Declan Burke

"The team based approach to these camps is highly motivating and creates a camaraderie in which athletes are able to help each other grow. My favourite sessions this week were the long endurance sessions where we could experiment with technical feedback. Thanks to all the coaches involved for a great camp.” - Charles Hiam
