More than 120 athletes have signed up for the Hotham SBX Festival 2019 that kicks off on 5 August, featuring the FIS ANC SBX Race 1 & 2 for as well as the Australian National Grom SBX Championships
The ANC FIS SBX event is key feature on the Mt Hotham and the Southern Hemispher’s winter calendar, attracting the top snowboard cross riders and giving younger up and coming talent the opportunity to race against the best.
Featured among the line up include Olympians Cam Bolton, Belle Brockhoff and Adam Lambert along with elite riders Adam Dickson and Josh Miller.
Bolton will be looking to continue his strong performances from the World Cup circuit, earlier this year claiming his first ever gold medal at a World Cup in Germany.
It’s been a busy lead in for Belle Brockhoff, who joined Sami Kennedy-Sim at the recent SSA Next Gen Performance Camp training and inspiring the rising stars of the sport.
The SBX Festival will also feature the SSA Futures Camp this weekend, which aims to identify potential SBX talent.
74 participants have registered for the sessions which will provide talent development opportunities for athletes who are part of the SSA Pathway Programs, introduce athletes to what it takes to become an elite athlete, as well as the opportunity to train alongside OWIA and NSWIS athletes at the state of the art facilities.
The Futures program will cover free ride carving drills and more course specific preparation including banked slalom, GS training, start section, course inspection, course memorisation, and course features.
They will also be given the opportunity to attend a discussion group with OWIA athletes and coaches.
