Snow Australia President Dean Gosper was amongst the speakers presenting at a FIS webinar on Wednesday 9 September, focused on Covid-19 prevention and a safe delivery of the FIS World Cup season. About 300 FIS World Cup stakeholders came together, online, to receive an update from the International Ski Federation ahead of the upcoming Northern Winter.

Gosper was invited to speak as a representative of the FIS Council COVID-19 Support Group, a team of experts tasked to provide crucial input and insights to FIS disciplines, as they shape appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of all participants in FIS events.

During this process, Gosper was particularly involved in supporting the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard disciplines. He started his presentation by thanking everybody for the work done to ensure that the snow sports community has the best chance for a great 2020/21 season, especially leading up to the highly valued FIS World Championships.

"It's so important that FIS provides that leadership to ensure that we can provide continuity for our athletes, our fans, our broadcast partners and all involved in our sport," Gosper said.

FIS objectives for next seasons are to be able to carry out all disciplines in full, safely and responsibly, strengthening the role of sport as an example for society. To achieve those results, Gosper highlighted how the snow sports community needs to come together and maintain an open, flexible approach.

"The great strength of our sport is the level of collaboration that exists in our community, and the season that we have in front of us will draw on that strength more than ever before," he said.
