Published Fri 30 Aug 2024

The FIS JNR SBX Series powered by the Chumpy Pullin Foundation has been run and won for another year, with organisers getting creative in the face of adverse weather affecting the original program.

With the first series of races at Hotham completed earlier this month, competition was heating up however the cancellation of this week's racing in Thredbo due to poor conditions forced organisations to get creative.

Competitors' results from ANC races were carried forward to provide additional race results and determine the overall champions for 2024.

In the end of was Winter Youth Olympian Cameron Turner who took out the men's event, while Maya Billingham claimed the women's crown.

Billingham won the JNR SBX Series race at Hotham before finishing on the podium three more times to not only claim the title, but also finish on top of the Australian New Zealand Cup standings.

"The Chumpy Series is absolutely amazing - it allows you to progress from the younger years into the junior years and the ANC which we have this week," said Billingham after a strong week of racing at Hotham.

"It also helps the younger kids who want to travel overseas and do competitions that we really love. The Chumpy Series really helps with the progression of Australian snowboarding."

The Chumpy Pullin series events are something young groms can come and race each other and really get to know the sport of bordercross. For the past two years there's been great events [and I have been] progressing through them.
