FIS JNR SBX National Series starts with a bang at Thredbo

Published Fri 05 Aug 2022

Snow Australia would like to congratulate everyone that participated in the first stop of the FIS JNR SBX National Series at Thredbo on Sunday 31 July.

The Series provides an ideal development opportunity for the next generation of snowboard cross athletes.

The fast and technical course at Thredbo created spectacular heat racing in challenging conditions.

With 24 men and 16 women battling it out for a podium spot and overall Series points, 18-year-old Max Vardy and 16-year-old Lara Walsh emerged as the first place winners.

Snow Australia Sport Development Coordinator Johnny Lipzker said: "It was a fantastic result to have developing SBX athletes once again compete against each other in a four-rider heat format."

"There has been a real lack of opportunity for this kind of competition over the last two seasons.

"The Thredbo Event produced some high-level racing and we can’t wait to see how the athletes go at the next stop in Mt Buller.”

The Series will now head to Mt Buller for the second stop on Sunday 14 August before heading to Mt Hotham on Wednesday 31 August.

Full results will be available shortly here.

Registration is now live for Mt Buller and Mt Hotham.
