Bailey Johnson has been working hard in preparation for his first World Cup event of the year at Seiser Alm, Italy.

The 21-year-old freeski athlete said that although he’s excited to be back in the northern hemisphere, he will miss the Australian winter.

“I’m excited to compete against the best skiiers in the world and test my abilities, but over the Christmas break I was working on my sun tan so I’ll miss the Australian sun,” Johnson said.

“They’ve set up a great course at Seiser Alm, so I’m expecting it to be a great comp,” he said.

Johnson’s last international competition was on Australian soil at the Cardona ANC event in September, where he placed 11th.

“I’ve worked my way up through the different levels of competition over the years, and it’s great to now be at that World Cup level,” he said.

“I’ve been trying to stay as prepared as possible since the end of the domestic season, and I feel pretty prepared heading into the Northern Hemisphere winter.”

Johnson will be joined by team mate Cameron Waddell at the Sesier Alm World Cup event which kicks off on Friday 17 January.
