The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has published the nomination and selection criteria for the Gangwon 2024 Youth Olympic Winter Games.
The Youth Olympic Winter Games have been held every four years since 2012 and have been a stepping stone for future Australian Olympians including Greta Small (2014, 2018, 2022), Harry Laidlaw (2018), Louis Muhlen-Schulte (2022), Kathryn Parker (2022), Emily Arthur (2018, 2022), Hugo Hinckfuss (2022) and Abi Harrigan (2022).
Australia won three silver and three bronze medals across the first two editions of the event (Innsbruck 2012 and Lillehammer 2016), before Josie Baff broke through for snowboard cross gold at Lausanne 2020. Two years later Baff went on to compete at Beijing 2022 and has since won two World Cups and a World Championships medal.
Gangwon 2024 will take place from 19 January until 2 February, with most of the snow events being held at the venues which played host to the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
Snow sports which will be contested at the Games include alpine skiing, cross country skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
