Hotham hosts Ski Cross and Snowboard Cross blockbuster

Last week, Mt Hotham hosted a blockbuster of Ski Cross and Snowboard Cross events, including FUTURES, the FIS JNR SBX Series and the return of Australia/New Zealand Cup (ANC) events.
Over the course of six days, 18 races were held with more than 130 participants and 350 entries.
It was a great opportunity for young riders to enter their first event and line up next to the likes of Olympians Cam Bolton, Adam Lambert and Josie Baff and National Alpine Ski Team members Doug Crawford and Alfie Wenk.
Snow Australia CEO Michael Kennedy said it was great to see the snowboard cross and ski cross communities back together again.
“It was so exciting to have racing back at Mt Hotham last week, the Hotham event team did such a great job of getting the course in excellent shape, in some challenging conditions so a massive thank you to them,” Kennedy said.
“To see all levels of our pathways coming together for an action packed six days was so exciting, right from our FUTURES participants through to the National Team athletes.
“ANC Race winners Josie Baff, Adam Lambert and Doug Crawford were all participants in the FUTURES program when they were younger athletes, and to see them progress through the performance pathways and now coaching the next generation at the FUTURES last week was very rewarding.
“A big thanks to Mt Hotham, Mt Hotham Event Team, Snow Australia and OWIA staff, all the club's, programs, athletes and their families for a great week of racing and training,” he said.
