SNOW AUSTRALIA NSW/ACT/QLD INTERSCHOOLS STATEMENT JUNE 24
The 2021 Snow Australia Regional Interschools Events in the school holiday period will not proceed as scheduled.
Snow Australia Interschools has closely monitored and purposefully embraced COVID-19 requirements and developments since the beginning of the pandemic. An increase in cases and reported NSW case locations (‘Hot-Spots’), has prevented a growing number of eligible participants from travelling and competing with certainty at Perisher and Thredbo in the coming weeks.
In-line with advice from the NSW Department of Health and NSW Education systems, and in consultation with our resort partners, it has become evident that due to this escalating COVID outbreak in Sydney, the Interschools events scheduled for the upcoming school holiday period (June 28 to July 9), cannot proceed as planned.
The NSW Office of Sport, Snow Australia Interschools, and the Resorts are committed to ensuring that the safety, health and well-being of our participants, parents, teachers, volunteers, spectators, workers, and mountain communities is of absolute priority.
We will provide further information including contingency plans and refund information in the coming days. We wanted to notify all those impacted by this decision as soon as possible, to enable our Interschools snowsport community to modify arrangements as required, given the proximity of the events.
