Interschools Spotlight: Andy Deans

Part of an ongoing series profiling interschool participants from around Australia

Geelong College Year 10 student Andy Deans said that despite the challenging weather, he thoroughly enjoyed his fifth 2019 Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships.

“All in all I had fun, the events all ran smoothly and there was a great feeling amongst the other competitors,” Andy said.

Andy said that he hopes to pursue snowboarding to the highest competition level he can.

“I also want to enjoy a future lifestyle in the industry, but whether I’m competing or not, having fun on the slopes is the most important thing.”

Finishing third and first in the individual and team snowboard cross competitions respectively, Andy backed up to finish first in the individual snowboard giant slalom, second in the team event and third in the ski cross.
