World Cup Champion, Scotty James, has scored silver behind Shaun White (USA) in the snowboard halfpipe Burton US Open under crystal clear skies at Vail Mountain, USA this weekend.

After coming first in the semi finals, James continued his winning streak nailing his runs in the perfectly sculpted 22-foot superpipe sending massive airs and stomping his landings to qualify first heading into the final.

But it was always going to be a tough competition going up against the 2016 defending champion, Shaun White.

White threw down one of his most progressive run ever in the final, scoring 92.74 to take his seventh U.S. Open halfpipe title with nearly a ten point lead over James who scored 82.87.

Happy to qualify first through to finals, James paid respects to all the snowboarders from the event via his Instagram.

"So many legends have one this event, it's got so much history and it's one that all us snowboarders love coming to" he said of the event.

Meanwhile, 11 year old Aussie grom Valentino Guseli, has captured the attention of the world by also winning silver in the snowboard halfpipe Junior Jam of the US Open.

"So much fun!" said Guseli of being on the podium.

Guseli is one of the top junior snowboarders in the world at the moment and he'll definitely be one to watch.
